CLAT 2024 | సెప్టెంబర్ వచ్చేసింది.. వచ్చే సంవత్సరం అండర్ గ్రాడ్యుయేట్ కోర్సుల్లో చేరాలనుకునే విద్యార్థులు రాయవలసిన పరీక్షలకు సంబంధించిన నోటిఫికేషన్స్ విడుదలవడం మొదలైంది. పాండమిక్, ఎలక్షన్స్ వల్ల 2019, 2020లో పరీక్షల పై ప్రభావం పడింది. దీని వల్ల కొన్ని పరీక్షలు ముందుకు జరగడం, పలుమార్లు నిర్వహించడం జరిగింది. ఈ ఏడాది ఎలక్షన్లు ఉండటం వల్ల పరీక్షలపై ప్రభావం పడే అవకాశం కనిపిస్తుంది. తెలంగాణ రాష్ట్రంలో 2022 అకడమిక్ ఇయర్ కొంత సాధారణ స్థితికి చేరింది. 2023-2024 అకడమిక్ ఇయర్లో పరీక్షలు సజావుగా జరుగుతాయని ఆశిద్దాం. విద్యార్థులు తాము రాయాలను కుంటున్న పరీక్షలను ముందే నిర్ణయించుకొని తగు విధంగా ప్రిపరేషన్ చేయడం మంచిది. ఇంజినీరింగ్, మెడిసిన్ చదవాలనుకుంటున్న విద్యార్థులు ఇంటర్లోనే సంబంధిత కోర్సుల్లో చేరి ఉంటారు. కాకపోతే ఇంటర్లో ఏ కోర్సులో చేరినా కొన్ని పరీక్షలు రాసే అవకాశం ఉంటుంది. అందులో ఒకటి ‘లా’. ఇంటర్ తర్వాత ‘లా’ చదవాలనుకునే విద్యార్థులు దానికి తగ్గట్టుగా ప్రిపేర్ అవడం అవసరం. ప్రతి పరీక్షకు ఒక పాటర్న్ ఉంటుంది, అలాగే కాంపిటీషన్ ఉంటుంది. సుమారు యాభై వేల మంది ఈ అండర్ గ్రాడ్యుయేట్ పరీక్ష రాసే అవకాశం ఉంది. టాప్ ‘లా’ కాలేజీల్లో చేరాలనుకునే వారి కోసం…
CLAT 2024
- CLAT is a Common Law Admission Test conducted for National law universities. Apart from that, some universities with an MOU with CLAT Consortium consider these scores for admissions. That places it as one of the most important exams for law aspirants to target. CLAT has changed over the years. The notification for CLAT 2024 has been released, bringing a few new changes.

Website: https:// consortiumofnlus.ac.in/clat-2024/ Clat Pattern - The CLAT exam pattern is designed to test the skills a student requires to study in a law school. It tests the aptitude levels of the student. It focuses on evaluating students’ comprehe -nsion and reasoning abilities, which is an essential skill a law graduate requires.
- The entrance exam is 2-hour, with 120 multiple-choice questions carrying 1 mark each. There shall be a negative marking of 0.25 marks for every wrong answer.
- The paper predominantly con -sists of passages with a word limit of around 450 words. Students require good reading skills to attack this paper.
The paper is divided into 5 sections - English Language: It has 20% overall paper weightage. The passages can come from current topics or historically significant fiction and non-fiction writing. You may be asked questions on the passage’s main idea, infe -rences from the passage, conte -xtual meaning or opposites of the unfamiliar words. Inferences can be about multiple viewpoints, summary deducted or conclusions made. To master this section, students must improve their ability to infer and assimilate the information given. They also need to learn to attack different question types of reading comprehension.
- Current Affairs, including General Knowledge: It has 25% overall paper weightage. As per the section title, you can expect questions from the current topics and related static questions, too. Important National and inter national events and affairs, historical events of continuing significance, arts and culture, etc., are a few areas from which you can expect questions. Read and follow the national and international news regularly. Revise the topics so that you can remember them better.
- Legal Reasoning: It has 25% overall paper weightage. You will be asked to infer the rules and principles out of the passages, the application of rules to various situations, and the alteration of rules. The passages can be on legal matters, public policy topics, or others. Though you do not need prior legal knowledge to do well in this section, familiarity with legal terms, current topics and writing styles can help you to interpret and solve better. Practice and become perfect.
- Logical Reasoning: It has 20% overall paper weightage. The size of the passages may be more than last year. Sample papers may reveal more information. The Argument-based questions, Infe -rences, Relations and analogies are some of the types of questions you can expect. It challenges you to think critically. Understand the given questions and observe the nuances. Identify the missing links to tackle better. It would help if you learned how to attack a particular question type.
- Quantitative Techniques: It has 10% overall paper weightage. The information will be given in short sets of facts, propositions, or other textual representations of numerical information. You will have to answer the questions that follow by applying suitable mathematical concepts. Que -stions can be from topics like ratios and proportions, basic algebra, mensuration and statistical estimation.
Important changes & Impact - As per the notifi cation, it is evident that the number of questions decreased from 150 to 120. Also, the size of passages in Logical reasoning can be expected to increase from 350 words previously to 450 words this year.
- With the decreased number of questions, students can get more time to solve each question. However, it also depends on the number of passages in the paper. Students have to manage time in the final paper, considering the number of questions to solve and the number of passages to read and interpret. Accordingly, the cut-off marks may go up or follow the same trend as in previous years.
How to prepare for CLAT 2024?
- Master Reading Techniques: The entire paper is passage-oriented. So, your reading speed and interpretation skills impact your performance. Read books of different genres and articles from eclectic topics. Apply the reading strategies. The CLAT 2023 paper asked passages from eclectic topics like technology, literature, philosophy, science and techno -logy, history, etc. The writing styles of passages were diverse, such as narrative and analytical.
- Conceptual Clarity: Topics like Mathematics need conceptual understanding. Recap your fundamentals and practice. Reading and Reasoning areas require you to master the strategies to tackle different question types. Practise a lot. Read newspapers to improve your general awareness. Read national and international news. Read connected and relevant articles from the past about these topics. Be familiar with the latest legal news and verdicts.
- Mocks & practice: Take mock exams regularly to manage time. You need to identify a pattern in which you can attempt different sections. You should identify your strong areas and ensure you score consistently in them. You should also learn and improve in your weak areas. Learn from your mistakes and avoid them.
