When to use ‘the’
- We use the article ‘the’ before singular and plural nouns when we are talking about something in particular.
- Read the examples given below.
The girl who just walked in is my neighbours daughter. (We are talking about a particular girl here. Which girl? the one who just walked in) - The coffee machine that I bought yesterday is very expensive. (Which coffee machine? the one that I bought yesterday)
- I was happy to see the man who saved my daughter’s life. (Which man? the one who saved my daughter’s life)
- I have been to the doctor. (Which doctor? my doctor)
The names of some countries are also written with the.
Examples are:
- The United States of America
- The United Kingdom
- The Netherlands
- The United Arab Emirates
Note that we cannot use articles with Proper nouns.
I visited Paris last month. (NOT I visited the Paris last month)

- ఇటీవల కాలంలో కేజ్ కల్చర్ను రాష్ట్రంలో అభివృద్ధి పరుస్తున్నారు.
- కేజ్ కల్చర్ అంటే చేపల పెంపకానికి చెరువులు, రిజర్వాయర్ల ద్వారా చేపలకు ఫీడ్ (దానా, ఆహారం) అందించే విధానం .
- రాష్ట్ర ప్రభుత్వం 670 కేజ్లను ఏర్పాటు చేయాలని ప్రతిపాదించింది.
- ఇప్పటివరకు నల్లగొండ ఖమ్మం, కరీంనగర్, సూర్యాపేట, నిజామాబాద్, సంగారెడ్డి, మహబూబ్నగర్ జిల్లాలోని జలాశయాల్లో 330 కేజ్లను ఏర్పాటు చేశారు.

- 5. 5.63 లక్షల హెకార్లలో చేపల సంపదను పెంచడాని 23,874 చెరువులను తగినవిగా ప్రభుత్వం గుర్తించింది.
- రాష్ట్రంలో 2016-17 నుంచి 2019-20 మధ్య కాలంలో చేపల, రొయ్యల పెంపకం విలువ 2000 కోట్లు రూపాయల నుంచి 4670 కోట్ల రూపాయలకు పెరిగింది.
- 2020-21 సంవత్సరంలో రాష్ట్రంలో చేపలు, రొయ్యల విలువ 5400 కోట్ల రూపాయలకు పెరుగుతుందని అంచనా.
- మత్స్యరంగం వల్ల రాష్ట్రంలో 27 లక్షల మంది లబ్ధి పొందుతున్నారు.
- హైదరాబాద్ నగరంలో 150 వార్డుల్లో ఉపాధిలేని మహిళల కోసం 150 సంచార చేపల రిటైల్ ఔట్-లెట్లను ప్రారంభించారు. దీనికైన ఖర్చు 15 కోట్లరూపాయలు .
