ప్రతి సంవత్సరం సుమారు ఇరవై రెండు లక్షల మంది విద్యార్థులు నీట్‌ లేదా ఇంజినీరింగ్‌ ఎంట్రన్స్‌ జేఈఈ మెయిన్స్‌ రాస్తున్నారు. ఎందుకంటే ఇంజినీరింగ్‌ లేదా మెడిసిన్‌ ఒక ట్రెండ్‌ అయింది కాబట్టి. కానీ కొన్ని సంవత్సరాలుగా ఇతర కోర్సుల పట్ల కూడా ఆసక్తి చూపుతున్నారు. అందులో ఒకటి మేనేజ్‌మెంట్‌ కోర్సు. ఎలాంటి ఉద్యోగంలో అయినా ఒక స్థాయి నుంచి మేనేజ్‌మెంట్‌ స్కిల్స్‌ అవసరమవుతాయి. గతంలో గ్రాడ్యుయేషన్‌ పూర్తయిన తర్వాత మేనేజ్‌మెంట్‌ కోర్సుల పట్ల ఆసక్తి చూపేవారు. కానీ ఇప్పుడు ఇంటర్‌ తర్వాత నుంచి కూడా ఈ పరీక్షలకు సన్నద్ధం అవుతున్నారు. సుమారు 20 వేల మంది విద్యార్థులు ప్రతిష్ఠాత్మకమైన IPMAT రాస్తున్నారు. మేనేజ్‌మెంట్‌ రంగంపై ఆసక్తి ఉన్నవారు 12వ తరగతి పూర్తి చేసిన తర్వాత బ్యాచిలర్‌ ఆఫ్‌ బిజినెస్‌ అడ్మినిస్ట్రేషన్‌ లేదా ఇంటిగ్రేటెడ్‌ ప్రోగ్రాం ఇన్‌ మేనేజ్‌మెంట్‌ కోర్సుల్లో చేరుతారు. ఇంటిగ్రేటేట్‌ కోర్సులు ఐదేండ్లు, బ్యాచిలర్‌ ప్రోగ్రాం మూడు లేదా నాలుగేండ్లు ఉంటాయి. ఈ రంగం పై ఆలస్యంగా ఆసక్తి కలిగిన వారు గ్రాడ్యుయేషన్‌ పూర్తి చేసిన తర్వాత మాస్టర్‌ ఆఫ్‌ బిజినెస్‌ అడ్మినిస్ట్రేషన్‌ కోర్సుల్లో చేరుతున్నారు. ఏ విధంగా ఈ పట్టా పుచ్చుకున్నా ఈ రంగంలో ఎన్నో అవకాశాలు ఉన్నాయి.

Degrees and Courses available
BBA and Integrated programs are offered by various colleges in India. However, when it comes to Management programs, the first position is occupied by the IIMs. So, one such program is the Integrated Program in Management offered by IIMs. A few among them are offering IPM programs. Let’s discuss IPMAT-Indore here.
IPM – Indore
It was in the year 2011, IIM Indore launched its five-year Integrated Program in Management. The students who are enrolled in this course are offered a Bachelor of Arts (Foundations of Management) degree after completion of 3 years, and a Master of Business Administration program after completion of the entire course.
The program was started with the intention to develop a deeper understanding of management from the foundation level. Students are trained in areas like Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, and Social sciences along with Management subjects. The course develops leadership skills and prepares students to become future leaders with great managerial skills.
IPMAT – I Admission Procedure:
Students have to complete their 12th before joining the course. There is an age limit too. A minimum percentage of marks should be scored in the graduating classes. As per the 2022 notification, it was 60% in general for Class X.
Students who have applied for IPMAT will be selected on the basis of overall performance in the Aptitude Test (AT) and Personal Interview (PI). Both are mandatory to receive the final admission offer from the university.
The Aptitude test will have three sections:
Quantitative Ability (Multiple Choice Question-MCQ), Quantita -tive Ability (Short Answer Question-SA), and Verbal Ability (Multiple Choice Question-MCQ). MCQ questions mean multiple choice questions, where you need to select an option from given choices. On the other hand, an SA question means you need to type in the text or answer in the given space. That means it doesnt have options. However, students should not be surprised if the type in the text format questions appears in the Verbal section.
Each question will carry 4 marks.
There will be a negative marking of 1 negative mark for each wrong answer except Quantitative Ability (SA) Section (these questions will not carry any negative marking)
Each section is for 40 minutes. Students have to complete as many questions as possible from a particular section within the given time. The total test duration is 2 hours.
It is an online exam and sections will appear in a predetermined order.
Students will be shortlisted for personal interviews only if they have a positive raw score and a minimum in each of the three sections. So, every section is important. The written test was given 65 % weightage and PI was given 35% weightage previously.
The sanctioned intake of the IPM program in the year 2022 was 150 for domestic applicants. The number of test takers is at least 15000, so it is a highly competitive entrance exam.

The first step in the selection is to crack the aptitude test. The exam requires quantitative aptitude and verbal ability to do well in the written test.
Previous IPMAT Papers:
The official website has 2019, 2020, and 2021 papers. Soon, once notification is released we can expect the availability of the 2022 paper too. A quick look at the papers is the first step to understanding the exam pattern. It reveals the importance of Mathematics and the English language. Each of the sections has a mix of easy, medium, and difficult questions. Students with apt conceptual knowledge and required skills in these areas can do well in the written test.
Quantitative Aptitude:
l Conceptual clarity in fundamental concepts of Algebra and Arithmetic is essential. Students with a Mathematics background in 11th and 12th may find it a little more comfortable than others. Though there isnt a specific list of chapter names given, predominantly the chapters to focus on are Number Systems, Averages, Ratios and Proportions, Time Speed and Distance, Time and Work, Percentages. Also, Trigonometry, Geometry, Progressions, Sets and Relations and Functions, Matrices, Logarithms, Progressions, Straight lines, Permutations and Combinations, Probability, Quadratic Expressions are the most common topics covered.
Verbal Aptitude:
l Vocab-based questions related to Word Usage, Sentence Completion, Synonyms or Antonyms, Idioms and Phrases can be expected. Grammar questions from diverse concepts like Tenses, Subject-verb agreement, Parallelism, Redundancy, Modifiers, etc can be expected.
l Reading comprehension is definitely tested. Para jumbles and Para completions are another set of commonly expected question types. Students have to learn the relevant strategies and practise a lot to do well here.
Mocks:
Do take mocks regularly and analyse them.
Personal Interview:
Shortlisted candidates from the written test are called for this. Around 5 times the available seats are called for the interview. During the pattern, this round had undergone a change. The notification released for shortlisted candidates can have more details about it.
Shortlisted students have to carefully fill out the form and answer relevant questions properly. Previously students were asked to upload some videos on specific questions too.
Students have to be prepared for a face-to- face interview, as the academic year is getting back to normal.
IPMAT and Other Colleges:
IPMAT Indore scores are also accepted by other premier institutions. The eligibility criteria of each of the colleges for any specific subjects in the 12th need to be checked. The most important ones are:
IIM Ranchi – IPM program. Earlier SAT scores and IPMAT scores were accepted for its selection. But in the latest notification released in the 2nd week of December, it is mentioned that only IPMAT scores will be accepted. IIFT – From the Academic year 2022-23, IIFT launched its five-year Integrated Program in Management (Business Analytics and International Business) at its Kakinada Campus. Its selection process includes IPMAT -Indore test scores. www.iift.edu

l In the year 2022, the test registration started in April and Exam took place in July. However, for the year 2023, we hope the test will happen in the month of May like in earlier times. So registrations may open any time from February or March.
