Career guidance | What Next for Law aspirants?
Law is one of the career choices students can pursue after completing their Intermediate education. CLAT and AILET are the entrance exams for admission into National law universities. These exams are conducted in December 2022, for the academic year 2023-24. Results and rank cards are also released. Students who couldn’t get admission into these programs need not be disappointed, as there are other exams they can take and colleges they can apply to. There are many colleges offering law courses in the country, these are programs like BA LLB, BBA LLB, B Com LLB, BSc LLB, etc. Certain colleges take admissions based on CLAT scores also.
- MNLU Nagpur B.A.LL.B. (Honours in Adjudication and Justicing)
- This course is suitable for students who are interested in Judiciary. The university aims at attracting the best talent for Justicing and to work in courts. The intake into this program is happening through a separate application process. The appli cations are open till March 31st.
- The selection process involves multiple steps. The first one needs to submit the application form, then after screening and shortlisting, students will be called for Group Discussion. This is followed by a Psychometric Test and Personal Interview. It has 60 seats to offer, of which 23 are unreserved category

IIM Rohtak
- IIM Rohtak introduced an integ rated program in law. This is a five-year program, and after successful completion of the course, students will be awarded a BBA LLB degree. This program aims at trai ning students in business knowledge along with law and governance. Admission intake is through CLAT 2023 scores and also through an entrance test. At the time of application, students can choose to apply through CLAT or the IPMAT exam. Students taking admission into the Law program through IPMAT have to attempt all 4 sections Quantitative Ability, Logical Reasoning, Verbal Ability, and Legal Reasoning. Shortlisted candidates will be called for Personal interviews based on their CLAT/IPMAT scores. Applications for IPMAT will be closing on April 10th, and for CLAT-based admission on April 20th.

SLAT (Symbiosis Law Admission Test)
- Symbiosis University conducts the test for admission into a five-year integrated program of BBA LLB and BA LLB. The university offers this course in four locations: Pune, Noida, Hyderabad, and Nagpur. It has around 1080 seats to offer. The selection process involves a written test followed by Personal Interview and Written Ability Test. The exam is an online test for one hour. It has five sections: Logical Reasoning, Legal Reasoning, Reading Comprehension, Analytical Reasoning, and General Knowledge each has 12 questions, a total of 60 questions. Students who cross the cut-off scores are shortlisted for the next rounds, Written Ability Tests require you to write an essay on a given topic. In a Personal Interview, you may be asked questions on general topics, academics, and personal questions.
- The last date for Applications is April 12. This year the exam is being conducted twice: May 6th and May 14th. Symbiosis is one of the recognized institutions for Law programs in the country.
NMIMS LAW
- Kirit P. Mehta School of Law, NMIMS offers BA LLB and BBA LLB programs. Admissions are through CLAT and also through an entrance exam called NLAT. Applications are open.
- The last date to apply through NLAT is May 21st. The exam is scheduled over multiple days from January to May. The last date to take the test in exam centers is 31st May 2023.
- NLAT pattern includes the English Language (30 marks), Current Affairs Including GK (30 marks), Quantitative Techniques (30 marks), Logical Reasoning (30 marks), and Legal Reasoning (30 marks) Website:https://law.nmims.edu/
LSAT
- LSAT India is a standardized test to evaluate the reading and critical thinking abilities of aspirants. The exam is conducted two times a year. The phase I exam is completed in January. Applications are open for the phase II exam. The exam has 4 sections. Analytical Reasoning (23), Logical Reasoning 1 (22), Logical Reasoning 2 (23), and Reading Comprehension (24). Total 92 questions. This exam has a sectional time limit. Each section is for 35 minutes. It is a Computer Based entrance exam. Students are required to apply and schedule for the exam and verify the technical requirements before the actual day of the examination. Registration for the June exam closes on May 26th. The window to schedule June exams is from 17 April – 29 May 2023. Verify system readiness between April 20 and June 5th. Exams are administered between the 8th -11th of June 2023. You will receive a scaled score between 420 and 480 as well as a percentile rank. While you will receive credit for correct answers, there is no negative marking or penalty for incorrect responses. LSAT India scores are accepted by many private colleges. Jindal Global Law School, University of Petroleum & Energy Studies, Presidency University, GD Goenka University, KR Mangalam University, Asian Law College, Noida, Vellore Institute of Technology, ISBR Law college, Lloyd Law College, Mewar University, Alliance Univer sity, BML Munjal University, School of law and Constitutional Studies Shobhit Institute of Engineering and Technology, Meerut, DM Harish School of Law are some of them. Once students take the test, they have to separately apply for the relevant colleges.
CUET
- Common University Entrance test is conducted for admission into many central universities, state, and private universities. Some of the colleges offer Integrated Law Programs. The application window is extended till March 30th. Based on the eligibility criteria of the institutions students can apply for relevant tests. Banaras Hindu University and BML Munjal are some of the noted names in them. NTA is conducting the test, but the merit list is released by individual universities. Website:https://cuet.samarth.ac.in/
ICFAI
- ICFAI law school is another choice for students after CLAT. It offers BA LLB and BBA LLB programs. For admissions through the ILSAT entrance exam, the last date for the same is May 28th. MH CET Law
- The application window for this exam is closed. The exam is for admission into Maharashtra-based law colleges. The top among them are GLC Mumbai and ILS Pune. The exam has Legal aptitude and Legal reasoning (40), General Knowledge and Current affairs (30), Logical and Analytical reasoning (40), English (30), Basic Maths (10)
TS LAWCET
- TS Lawcet is an entrance examination for 3 year/5-year Law program. For 5 year Law Course, the standard expected is Intermediate level and for 3 year Law Course, the standard expected is Degree Level. The exam has three parts. Part – A: Consists of 30 questions carrying 30 marks: General Knowledge and Mental Ability. Part – B: Consists of 30 questions carrying 30 marks: Current Affairs. Part – C: Consists of 60 questions carrying 60 marks: Aptitude for the Study of Law. Out of these 60 Questions, a total of 10 Questions will be based on or related to the comprehension of legal passages given. There is no negative marking. The last date for applications without a late fee is the 6th of April. The exam is scheduled for 25th May. Law colleges in Telangana state accept these scores, of which the Osmania Law program is very popular among the takers.

AP LAWCET
- Applications are open for AP Lawcet also. The last date to submit without a late fee is April 22. The exam is on 20th May.

BITS LAW will announce details for its entrance examination at the beginning of Round 2. Applicants in Round 1 will need to submit the latest scores for any one of these entrance exami nations – CLAT, LSAT-India, AILET, or MH CET Law for a 5-year LL.B. Round 1 appli cation process closes on April 17, Round 2 application process closes on May 15. The selection process will have an interview.
