In the previous articles, we have discussed the IPM Program by IIM Indore, and IPM programs at other IIMs too. The applications for these have opened too. The applications for JIPMAT are expected to open soon. In this article, we will discuss the BBA program offered by some non-IIM colleges and also the career opportunities for BBA students after graduation.

Intermediate education and the entrance exams that follow, help students choose the right colleges based on their career interests. The two popular exams in India are undoubtedly Engineering and Medical entrance exams. The number of takers is in lakhs. However, over the last decade, students and parents are showing great interest in diverse courses. Law, Design, Humanities, Arts, and Management courses to name a few. Among these, the inclination towards management courses has increased greatly. Since the Integrated Program in Manage ment launched by IIM Indore, many other IIMs like IIM Rohtak, IIM Ranchi, IIM Bodhgaya, and IIM Jammu have followed the same path. Around 18000 students used to write IPMAT of IIM Indore, now with the increase in the number of seats across IIMs the takers have increased too.

SET General

It is an entrance exam conducted by Symbiosis University for admission into its diverse courses. Symbiosis Centre for Management Studies [SCMS]- has campuses in Pune, Noida, Nagpur, Bangalore, and Hyderabad where it offers a BBA program. It takes SET scores.
Other symbiosis colleges consider ing this test and scores are Sym biosis Institute of Computer Studies and Research [SICSR]-Pune for BBA (IT), BCA, Symbio sis Centre for Media & Commu nication [SCMC]-Pune for BA Mass Communication, Symbiosis School of Economics [SSE] – Pune for BSc Economics, Symbiosis School for Liberal Arts [SSLA]-Pune for liberals arts, Symbiosis Statistical Institute (SSI) for BSc statistics.
The SET General test is a Computer Based test. It tests students on General English (16 questions), Quantitative (16), General Awareness (16), and Analytical and Logical (12). The test duration is for 60 minutes and no negative marks.
Based on the scores in SET General Test, Candidates will be shortlisted for PI-WAT or ST-PI based on the program of their choice.
Written Tests, Personal Interviews, and WAT each have a weightage in the final selection. For SCMS Pune, Noida, and Bangalore campuses, the Written test (50), PI (30), WAT (20); For Hyderabad and Nagpur it is a Written test (50), PI (35), WAT (15)

NPAT

NMIMS – NPAT is an entrance exam for undergraduate programs. The programs considering these scores are BBA/B.Com/B.Sc. Finance (3-year program), B.Sc. Economics (3-year program), BBA in Branding & Advertising (3-year program, BA(Hons) in Liberal Arts (3-year program), Bachelor in Business Management & Marketing (3-year program), BBA (International Business) in collaboration with Kingston University. (2 years at the Mumbai campus and 1 year at Kingston University, London) Dual Degree Programme in Business Administration
The test includes Quantitative Reasoning, Logical Reasoning, and Verbal Reasoning and 40 questions each. A total of 120 questions need to be solved in 100 minutes. It has no negative marking. Merit ranks are given based on exam scores.
NMIMS also considers SAT scores for admission.

ICFAI University

ICFAI has multiple campuses across India. ICFAI Hyderabad offers a BBA program. Students who meet the eligibility criteria with their Intermediate marks can apply and attend the interview for selection.

Personal Interview

Many BBA programs conduct Personal Interviews for the selection process. However, there is nothing to worry about.
Students can prepare their resumes based on the formats shared by the universities, or a regular format with all essential information.
Be prepared with Personal questions, also revise concepts from your Boards-related topic.
Equip yourself with Current affairs.
Have clarity in thought and speak confidently. Express your opinions clearly when asked.
These interviews may happen face-to-face or Online, based on the interests of the university conducting it.

WAT

Writing Skills are essential for a BBA graduate. You will be given a topic and asked to elaborate on it. These topics can be related to current topics or issues in the country or world. Your general knowledge will help you put the facts and examples together. While your language skills will help you frame better statements.

How to prepare for the exams?

English and Comprehension, Logical Reasoning both Critical and Analytical, and Quantitative Aptitude are the most common areas across all the exams. A few test on General awareness or concepts like Data Interpretation etc. Prepare for these areas and practice enough mocks to do better in finals. Time management and the ability to pick the right questions to do plays a critical role in it.
Christ University offers multiple programs of which its School of Management and School of Commerce and Accountancy offer programs that interest BBA/ BCom candidates. BML University, UPES Dehradun, and many other universities across India offer BBA programs.
Some universities which are popular for their engineering programs are also offering BBA programs. Many colleges in Hyderabad offer BBA or BMS programs. In previous articles, we have written about SAT and colleges accepting these scores, also about CUET and colleges. These exams are also considered for admission into BBA or other bachelor’s programs by different colleges. Choose in time and wisely to apply.
Students have to check the eligibility requirements before choosing a program or college. Some of these exams can be written by students from any stream of education, however, a few may need you to have specific subjects in your 12th curriculum.

Opportunities for BBA graduates

Education: BBA graduates after compl etion of the course can pursue Higher Education. Many prefer to complete their MBA if they are not already in an integrated program.
Government Jobs: BBA graduates can sit for Government entrance exams suitable to their interests.
Sectors & Jobs: The industry offers many Job opportunities to BBA graduates. These graduates can also choose jobs in multinational companies. They can apply for roles in Banking and Insurance, Travel Management, Finance, Foreign Trade, Marketing, Accounting, Hosp itality Management, Retail Manage ment, Operations management, etc.
Skills Required: Marketing and Sales jobs require good communi cation skills. Candidates need to have the ability to understand changing trends in the market and understand client requirements. Advertising & PR roles require people to understand the product and services offered and the factors that influence clients. The roles may be in Customer relations, PR relations, Copywriters, etc. Human Resource Managers need people skills. They play a critical role in choosing the right candidates for a company. Financial analysts play a significant role in taking Business decisions that impact a company. You need to learn to crack numbers and analyze data. Operations Management requires people to coordinate different activities. Operations Manager, Business Consultant, and Business analyst are some other roles
Entrepreneurship: BBA graduates can support their family business or start their start-up.
